Cookie Policy
How Best Products UK uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.
Last updated: 10 June 2026
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide aggregated information about how the site is used. We also use cookie-like technologies such as local storage where it makes sense to do so — for the purpose of this policy, the same rules apply.
2. Our approach
We try to use as few cookies as we reasonably can. We do not run third-party advertising networks on the Site. We do not use cookies to build behavioural profiles, and we do not sell data to data brokers.
We always set one strictly necessary cookie that remembers your cookie-banner choice. That cookie does not require consent under PECR. If you accept on the banner, we also load Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager — the analytics cookies listed in the table below are set at that point and not before. If you reject (or ignore the banner), no analytics cookies are set and no analytics requests are sent to Google.
Google Analytics is configured with Google Consent Mode v2 set to denied by default, so the GTM container will not record measurable hits until you grant consent. Any future tag we add (e.g. Microsoft Clarity, Bing Webmaster, an A/B test snippet) will be added through the same GTM container under the same consent gate, listed in the table below, and announced via an updated “Last updated” date. Any change stays in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
3. Cookies we currently set
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| bp_consent | bestproductsai.co.uk | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie-banner choice (accept / reject) so we don't keep asking on every page. | 12 months |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors. Only set after you accept analytics cookies. | 13 months |
| _ga_FJFZ2PYHE4 | Google Analytics | Analytics | Persists session state for the GA4 property. Only set after you accept analytics cookies. | 13 months |
| bp_gclid | bestproductsai.co.uk | Advertising | Stores the Google Ads click identifier (gclid/gbraid/wbraid) when you arrive via a Google ad, so a later purchase can be attributed to that ad. Only set if you arrived from a Google ad AND you accept cookies on the banner. | 90 days |
4. Cookie categories explained
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required to deliver the Site to you and remember basic choices such as your cookie-banner response. They cannot be switched off in our preferences panel because the Site will not function correctly without them. They do not need consent under PECR.
Analytics
Analytics cookies measure how visitors interact with the Site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded via Google Tag Manager, and only after you grant consent on the cookie banner. GA4 anonymises IP addresses by default. Aggregated data is stored in our Google Analytics property; the underlying cookies (_ga and _ga_FJFZ2PYHE4) sit on your device for up to 13 months.
Advertising
If you arrive at the Site from a Google ad, the URL carries a click identifier (gclid). With your consent we store that identifier in the first-party bp_gclidcookie for up to 90 days so that, if you later buy a product through one of our links, the sale can be attributed back to the ad. Accepting on the cookie banner also enables Google’s ad-measurement consent flags (Consent Mode v2 ad_storage). We do not run third-party advertising networks or display ads on the Site itself.
Functional
Functional cookies remember preferences such as your region or saved articles. We do not currently set functional cookies; if we add any, this list will be updated.
Outbound affiliate redirects
When you click an outbound retailer button, the click passes through https://bestproductsai.co.uk/go/[product-id] on this domain. The redirect is server-side and does not set any cookie on your browser. We log the article slug, country, the referring page, a coarse user-agent bucket and — where you consented to the bp_gclid cookie — the Google Ads click identifier. We do not log your name, email address or IP address; the IP is used transiently in memory for rate-limiting only and is never written to the log.
5. Third-party tracking from outbound links
When you click an outbound link to Amazon UK or another retailer, the destination site will set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policy. We have no control over those cookies. The affiliate networks we work with (e.g. Amazon Associates UK) attribute the click via a partner tag passed in the URL — they do not receive your name or email address from us.
6. How to manage cookies
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the Site footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser:
Disabling all cookies may break parts of the Site. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to read articles or click outbound links.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We operate on an opt-in basis for everyone: no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and no measurable analytics hits are recorded, unless you explicitly accept on the cookie banner. Visitors whose browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal therefore receive the same protection as everyone else by default — nothing non-essential runs without your explicit opt-in.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookies, or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
